So the iPhone is now available at Walmart. Sure, that’s a good thing because there weren’t enough iPhones or places to buy them what with the internet and Apple Store being so difficult to use and all. Not that I don’t like the iPhone, I think it is a very cool device and is definitely a step in the right direction for future hand held devices. OK, my real issue here? The new AC/DC album, uh…. CD is exclusively at Walmart. Are you f’king kidding me?!? This is some kind of sick joke right? Yea, sure AC/DC wants to sell whole albums like in the old days and not allow iTunes to split it up and sell by the song. First, get over it! Music isn’t sold that way anymore and shouldn’t be. I for one am tired of paying for all the songs on a CD when most artists can’t put together an entire CD of good music to begin with. How is iTunes really any different than the 45’s that we used to buy. I wouldn’t buy most albums back in the day, I just bought the 45 of the only song I actually liked off that album to begin with. I love AC/DC but sorry boys, AC/DC + Walmart = LAME.
Wally’s Got It.

iPod Shuffle down to $49
19 02 2008Finally I might be able to buy one of these things. OK, it is true that I have a blackberry and an Axim x51v that could be a game console, mp3 player, video player, etc and a PSP, not to mention the laptop and desktop and the fact that I also have a Phillips mp3 player but that is not the point. The point really is that I can actually afford 50 bucks for an iPod. Also true that I don’t even really want a Shuffle, but again not the point. The truth is that a price drop from Apple usually means another product is on the way and it will eventually bring down the price of all its predecessors. And the reality of that is that I am now one product price reduction closer to being able to afford an iPhone. Now that all that has been said I think carrying around a bunch of devices for all the different stuff I want to do is a huge PITA (pain in the a$$). The iPhone, or something similar, would be able to handle all that in one device, except maybe the game device, and as I project it from this recent price drop, I am about 2 years away from being able to afford that iPhone. *sigh*

Apple’s anti-marketing strategy
6 02 2008A bit of history and opinion…
The iPhone debuts in June 2007 and within 60 days of release Apple drops the price $200. Some early adopters are not happy with the quick price drop. Other customers that didn’t buy the initial release are quite happy with the lower price. Read the rest of this entry »
