Apple’s Clone Wars

This one is pretty funny to me.  A Miami based company called Psystar is selling Mac clones and saying that it can do so because Apple has a monopoly.  I’m not really sure when a 14% market share translated into a monopoly but eh what the heck.  Here is a link to a story with more details.  The interesting thing will be to see how Apple deals with this.  My expectation is that they will crush Psystar under a sea of lawyers and other legal actions.  Is this really an opportunity for Apple to move into a high end computer manufacturer and license its OS to low cost makers in order to even further increase its growing market share?  hmmm.  We’ll keep you posted.

Vista might suck less

Come mid-march (which in Microsoft terms probably means June) SP1 for Vista will be released.  Surprise, surprise, the beta version of SP1 breaks some device drivers, which MS apparently did not elaborate on much, however they are working with hardware partners to work out the glitches.
