Tech picks for the day

Microsoft is not retiring Windows XP until 2010.  Why?  Well, if you listen to Microsoft and some industry analysts, it’s because of the demand for very low cost PCs that don’t have the hardware needed to run Vista.  Could it possibly be that Vista is so bloated that it won’t run on anything but a mid to high end machine?  Is MS a bit scared because of the success of Linux on low end machines and the recent successes of Apple in getting a bigger piece of the computer market pie?  Could it be that Vista SUCKS and manufacturers want an in-road to keep using XP?  The world may never know….  LOL

Vista might suck less

Come mid-march (which in Microsoft terms probably means June) SP1 for Vista will be released.  Surprise, surprise, the beta version of SP1 breaks some device drivers, which MS apparently did not elaborate on much, however they are working with hardware partners to work out the glitches. 

The Good, The Bad, The Vista

I really wish I could do a formal poll on this blog.  I am really curious to hear stories from other tech guys or bloggers or geeks in general about their experience with Vista.   I myself dislike Vista tremendously and I’ve heard a number of others in pod-casts, blogs, news programs etc that are disillusioned with it as well.  I’m curious if it’s the high end uber geeks that are poo-pooing Vista or if the bad experience is really across the board.  Please leave some comments with your experience and if I’m able I will compile the information and release it in a blog entry.   Thanks in advance.
